BBC Lifestyle – Come Dine With Me South Africa S9  Competition – (the “Competition”)

Terms and Conditions

  1. The BBC Code of Conduct (the “Code”) for competitions can be found at https://www.bbc.com/editorialguidelines/guidance/code-of-conduct  and all BBC Studios Limited (“BBCSD”) promotions comply with the Code.
  2. The Competition opens on 10 January 2024 at 14:00 SAST (“Opening Date”) and closing at 14:00 SAST on 06 February 2024 (“Closing Date”).
  3. The Competition is open to all residents of South Africa aged 18 years or over.  Any employees of BBCSD and their subsidiaries, agencies, members of their families and anyone professionally associated with the Competition may not enter. (“Entrants”).
  4. By entering the Competition, the Entrants agree:

    - to be bound by these Terms and Conditions;
    - that their name & surname and county of residence may be released if they win a prize;
    - that should they win the Competition, their name and likeness may be used by BBC Studios Africa for pre-arranged promotional purposes.
     
  5. No purchase is necessary to enter.
  6. From the Opening Date, 3 (three) winners, every week for a period of 4 (four) weeks will be selected based on the criteria set out in clause 11.  Each week a new multiple choice question relating to that week’s episode will be posted on the Competition Page.

A new competition question will be posted every Wednesday at 14:00 SAST. Opening dates are below:

  • 10 January 2024
  • 17 January 2024
  • 24 January 2024
  • 31 January 2024

The closing time for each week’s question is the subsequent following week on Tuesday at 14:00 SAST. Closing dates are below:

  • 16 January 2024
  • 23 January 2024
  • 30 January 2024
  • 6 February 2024
  1. Entrants should enter the competition by submitting their answers to https://www.bbcafricachannels.com/CDWMSA-competition (the “Competition Page”) to stand a chance to win.
  2. Only 1 (one) entry will be permitted per person regardless of method of entry and bulk entries (meaning the use of any form of technology which allows multiple simultaneous entries) will not be permitted.  Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.  No responsibility is taken for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered for any technical or other reason.  Entries received after the Closing Date will not be considered.
  3. Entrants must supply to BBCSD their full name, email address, contact number, province.  BBCSD will only ever use Entrant’s personal details in accordance with the BBC Studios Privacy Policy at https://www.bbcstudios.com/privacy.
  4. Entrants data will be collected and used only for the purposes of administration of this competition.  Each winner will be asked to supply their full name, email address, contact number, province in order to administer the Prize(s).
  5. Entrants are required to submit their answers to a multiple question that will be posted every week.  The selected winner(s) will win the Prize as set out in clause 12 below. 3 (Three) winners will be selected each week over a period of 4 (four) weeks thus there will be a total of 12 (twelve) winners. Winners will be selected randomly. The judges’ decision is final.
  6. The prize will be 1 (one) grocery store virtual voucher per winner valued at R2500 (two thousand five hundred South African Rand), (the “Prize”).  The voucher for the grocery store will be selected at BBCSD discretion.   Winner(s) will not be able to select alternative stores.
  7. The winners will be notified each week by email, with the last winner being notified by 7nd February 2024.  If the winner(s) is/are unable to be contacted within one week of the Closing Date of the Competition, BBC Studios Africa reserves the right to offer the Prize to a runner-up, or to re-offer the Prize in any future BBC Studios Africa competition.
  8. Subject to prior written approval by the Winner(s), BBCSD may announce the competition Winner(s) via their social media platforms.  Only the Winner(s)’ name will be announced.
  9. On successful contact and confirmation with the winner(s) BBCSD will send the Prize(s) to the winner(s) by email. BBCSD will not be liable for any disruption, delay, strike action or incorrect delivery by any postal or courier service (if applicable) or if incorrect details are provided.
  10. There is no cash alternative and the Prize will not be transferable.  Prizes must be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. If a prize must be taken within a specific timeframe  and the Winner does not use the Prize within the timeframe, BBCSD reserves the right to offer the prize to a runner up or to re-offer the prize in any future BBCSD promotion. BBCSD accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with the prizes and not specifically included/ stated.  If any prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, BBCSD reserves the right to substitute the Prize for another prize of equal or greater value.
  11. Any promotional activity or press release any winner makes in relation to the Competition must be pre-approved by BBCSD in writing.
  12. BBCSD excludes liability to the full extent permitted by law for any loss, damage or injury occurring to the participant arising from his or her entry into the Competition or occurring to the winner(s) arising from his or her acceptance of a prize.

  14. Printing, spelling, typesetting or similar errors in these Terms and Conditions and/or any other documentation related to the Competition cannot be invoked against BBCSD and cannot, in any way, establish binding obligations for BBCSD.
  15. Entry into the Competition is acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  16. BBCSD reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or to cancel, alter or amend the Competition or the Prize at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside of its control.
  17. The Competition is subject to the laws of England and Wales.
