How We Use Your Competition Entry Information

To enter the competition you will provide BBC Studios with your personal data, including your name, email address, phone number, social media handle, and province of residence. BBC Studios is the “responsible party/data controller” of this information. 

BBC Studios will process your personal data to administer the competition. If you are successful, BBC Studios will contact you to fulfil the prize. The winning entrants will be selected by a judging panel and will be announced weekly on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.

We process personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests in engaging with our audiences and promoting our brands. We protect your information in many different ways. These include staff training, investing in technology and following strict handling and storing procedures.

 

Retaining Your Personal Data

BBC Studios will retain your data for 6 months after the competition closes and will then destroy it in line with the BBC Studios Data Retention Policy. We retain your data for legal compliance purposes. 

 

Sharing Your Data

Your information will not be shared with anyone outside BBC Studios. If you participate in the competition, your information will be processed by BBC Studios in the United Kingdom, where the competition will be administered. 

If you are amongst the winners, your data will be shared with the BBC Studios Africa Marketing Team, who will contact you via email to deliver your prize to you. With your consent, we may also share your name and tag you on social media (e.g. on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages) to announce you as a winner. We will contact you to ask for your consent before doing so.

Data protection law gives you certain rights in relation to your personal data, including the right to request from the responsible party/data controller access to and rectification or erasure of your personal data or restriction of processing, and the right to object to processing.
